In a word: no. For senior thesis, you just need to read the parts of the book that are relevant to your thesis or to the focus of your research. This means a couple of your books you probably will want to read front to back, but for others:

  1. Get some sticky notes or bookmarks handy
  2. Carefully read the table of contents
  3. Pick the parts that are relevant to your thesis, and bookmark them
  4. Read and take careful MLA notes on the parts that you bookmarked
  5. Voila!
